iBooks Author

A "flipped classroom" is something which we are hearing much about in education: the idea that students should facilite their own learning by having the resources they need to learn outside of school. As 21st century librarians, isn’t this something we’ve already been doing for many years? I know I have. Think about all the resources you provide your students and you’ll realize that you’ve been flipping learning for your students long before the term “flipped classroom” became popular.

iBooks Author is an ideal tool for flipping learning because it delivers important resources to students in a seamless method. Librarians can create an ipad which includes access and directions for using the many books, databases and services which a school library provides. The finished publication can be loaded onto school ipads or on students' own personal ipads. What makes this delivery different than hosting this information on your library website? Since you control where it is being published, you can include sensitive password and login information which is only intended for your students and staff.

New Hope-Solebury High School students & staff: if you'd like our library ibook loaded onto your ipad, stop by the library!
